This post on Mormon Coffee is an excellent example of using a well-reasoned, respectful argument against a particular doctrine of Mormonism.
I am of the opinion that there is enough of the central, canonical Mormon doctrine on which we can "hang our hats" in our outreach to Mormons and those who are investigating Mormonism.
We don't have to resort to name-calling nor do we need to prove the church wrong by pointing to fringe doctrine that may or may not be historically accurate. Mainstream Mormonism and the church's "accepted" history contain plenty of ground on which to engage.
